The freshmen at the Philadelphia IMG seven-on-seven camp were easy to spot. Small. Slow. Mostly underdeveloped physically and struggling against the upperclassmen competitors. Except for one. Quarterback David Sills looked more like a college freshman than a high school freshman, even though he is the latter. The quarterback from Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy led his team, Flash Training, to a championship and earned most valuable player honors for the event. Still, he wasn't completely pleased, often criticizing his play throughout the tournament. Admittedly, Sills can be a bit tough on himself.

There have been two turning points in Marqise Lee's life. The first for the talented USC sophomore receiver was in 2004, when he tried to become a member of a gang as a 12-year-old in Inglewood, Calif. Dating almost as far back as he can remember, Lee watched his two older brothers live the gang lifestyle with the small, tight-knit gang set and wanted in himself. But when the time came, his brothers wouldn't let him enlist. "Where would I be if I would have joined?" Lee asks himself now. "I think about it all the time."

After the third death, the one he never saw coming, Marqise Lee wanted to give up. "I just didn't care anymore," he says. "I was ditching school a lot. I didn't really care about things." ne of Lee's older half-brothers had been shot and killed in a gang-related incident. He was 18 or 19 years old; Lee isn't exactly sure. About a month earlier, Lee's great-grandmother had died. The previous year, 2005, his grandfather had passed away. So this one was the third of a back-to-back-to-back. They all happened in less than a year and a half.
